Surrogacy Legal Process in Armenia

Learn how the legal process for surrogacy in Armenia works, including document preparation, notary procedures, power of attorney, DNA testing, apostille and exit documents after birth.

Information for Intended Parents

This page explains how intended parents should prepare for the surrogacy process in Armenia and what legal steps take place before and after the child’s birth.

What Documents Should You Prepare and Bring?

  • Your valid original passport
  • A certificate confirming your single status, legalized with an apostille from your country and translated into English
  • If you were previously married: an official document verifying your divorce, also apostilled and translated into English
  • For female intended parents only: a medical statement indicating that you are unable to conceive or carry a pregnancy. If you do not have this certificate, our clinic will provide one for you.

How the Surrogacy Legal Process Works

  • You will attend a scheduled meeting with a lawyer and a notary.
  • The lawyer will have prepared all necessary documents in advance based on the information you submitted online.
  • The process will continue with a notarial procedure, where the documents will be reviewed, signed, and legally certified.
Important note: Our coordinator will provide you with a draft version of the agreement between the Surrogate Mother (SM) and the Intended Parent (IP) for your review in advance.
You will also be introduced to a power of attorney document, which authorizes the coordinator to sign the agreement on your behalf. This arrangement is designed to save you from having to wait approximately three months for the full legal signing process.

Exit Process After the Child’s Birth

  • On the first day after the child’s birth, the hospital will send DNA samples from the Surrogate Mother (SM), the child, and the Intended Parent (IP) to a certified laboratory for verification. The samples will be collected by a specially authorized nurse, ensuring full compliance with legal requirements for surrogacy.
  • Once the DNA results confirm parentage, our legal team will proceed to gather all necessary documents, have them apostilled within 2–3 business days, and translate them into English to facilitate your departure process.

These legal and exit-support services are included in the guaranteed surrogacy program.
